Frequently Asked Questions
How nominations work, how we choose businesses, and what to expect along the way.
Head to our Nominate a Business page and share the business name, your contact details, and a short reason why they deserve a spotlight. Anyone can nominate — owners, customers, or just enthusiastic locals. We read every submission.
Your nomination lands in our editor's queue as pending. Our team reviews it, may reach out to the business for details and photos, and decides whether to draft a full spotlight. You'll see the listing appear in the directory once it's published.
Every nomination is reviewed personally by our founder. We look for independent, locally owned businesses that bring genuine character to their neighborhood — the coffee roasters, makers, healers, and creators who make our communities feel like home. Independence, local character, and community value guide every choice.
Absolutely. Owners are welcome to nominate themselves. Just tell us what makes your business special and why our community should know about you.
Never. Bridgetown Spotlight is a free, curated directory. We don't charge businesses to be featured and we don't accept paid placements. Every spotlight is earned, not bought.
Timing varies. We draft spotlights in batches and prioritize businesses we can feature well — with good photos and a real story. If your nomination is selected, it typically appears within a few weeks.
Not every nomination becomes a spotlight, and that's okay. We hold onto submissions and may revisit them later. You're always welcome to nominate again with new details or a different angle.
Yes. If you spot an error or have updated details for a listed business, reach out through the contact info in our footer and we'll make the correction.
